About
Dr Naim Sedira is a researcher in sustainable construction materials, specialising in alkali-activated binders, geopolymers and the reuse of mineral waste. He holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Beira Interior (UBI), Portugal, completed in 2021. His doctoral work, “Novel Waste-Based Alkali-Activated Binders by Combining Mining and Other Mineral Waste,” focused on transforming industrial by-products into high‑performance, low‑carbon construction materials.
- Recycling mining and quarrying waste through alkali activation
- Microstructural characterisation and physical–mechanical behaviour of sustainable binders
- Development of geopolymer-based materials for infrastructure exposed to harsh environments
- Biomimetic strategies for material design and engineering
