Manuel Martínez del Álamo is the Head of the Environmental Modelling and Simulation research group at Eurecat, Centre Tecnològic de Catalunya. He holds a PhD in Chemical, Environmental and Process Engineering from Universitat Rovira i Virgili, specialising in Computational Fluid Dynamics. He is leading research in the fields of pollutant dispersion, indoor air quality, chemical speciation of aqueous solutions and selective precipitation, urban and industrial water distribution networks, sediment transport and process simulation.

He is also an associated lecturer at the Mechanical Engineering Department from Universitat Rovira i Virgili since 2014. He has directed several final master’s projects and one PhD thesis currently. He combines teaching with basic and applied research, which has been reflected in the publication of many scientific articles in peer-reviewed international journals and participation in international scientific conferences.

One of his main current interests lies in modelling the formation and transport of pollutants of emerging concern in water systems, specially in water distribution networks.
