Supervisors: Jaume Pujante | Andrey Molotnikov
Research areas: Additive manufacturing techniques; materials science; environmental engineering; green powder consolidation and sintering
EUT-PF1
Eurecat, RMIT University and RMIT Europe joined forces to create the Joint Research Unit (JRU) in Digital Metal Manufacturing to address industry challenges in the aerospace, automotive and healthcare sectors in Europe and Australia. From virtual design to functional additive manufacturing components, the JRU has been established to develop materials, products and technological processes that meet the industry challenges of the manufacturing sector. The JRU has different laser-based techniques to manufacture a wide range of materials and components sizes and geometries.
This position will open new AM techniques based on green powder consolidation and
sintering. Working with different technologies of binder jetting, fused deposition modelling (FDM) and fused filament fabrication (FFF), the optimum manufacturing processes and materials will be addressed through an intense mechanical and metallurgical characterisation.
Fast evaluation methods will be used to speed up the part development and fabrication, with a special focus on the implementation of metallic powder with a high content of recycled raw material.
