About
Professor Carlos García-Alonso is Senior Professor of Mathematical Programming and Artificial Intelligence at the Universidad Loyola Andalucía. Following a period as Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research until 2023, Carlos has been leading the Loyola Institute of Health Policy at the same university. His research has focused on health engineering, particularly in integrating artificial intelligence on mathematical and statistical analysis in mental health management and health policy design, as well as urban planning and its influence on population health.
His research team is designing and developing software for the analysis of the complexity (based on an ecosystem approach), optimisation (efficiency, stability and entropy) and forecasting based on explicit/implicit expert knowledge. Carlos has participated in many Spanish and international research and development projects (including EU and Australia). He has also contributed to the development of many Integrated Atlases of Mental Health which have been used in 34 countries around the world.
