About
Assistant Professor Manuel Martínez del Álamo holds a PhD in Chemical, Environmental and Process Engineering from Universitat Rovira i Virgili, specialising in Computational Fluid Dynamics. Since February 2014, he has been an assistant professor at Universitat Rovira i Virgili, teaching in the Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Chemistry degrees, as well as in the Computational Fluid Dynamics, Chemical Engineering, and Environmental and Energetic Sustainability master’s programmes.
In May 2018, he joined Eurecat as a researcher and is currently the head of the Environmental Modelling and Simulation department within the Sustainability Area. He is leading research in the fields of pollutant dispersion, indoor air quality, chemical speciation of aqueous solutions and selective precipitation, urban and industrial distribution networks, sediment transport, geothermal energy, and process simulation.
Manuel’s main topics of interest are the numerical simulation of multiphase flows, particle-laden flows, and mass transfer in turbulent flows. He is also interested in studying in more detail the numerical methods used to solve the complex systems of equations present in these cases and in parallel computing using graphical processing units.
He has directed many master’s projects and one PhD thesis. He combines teaching with basic and applied research, which has been reflected in the publication of many scientific articles in peer-reviewed international journals and participation in international scientific conferences.
