Dr Mojtaba Mahmoodian is an academic and researcher in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering at RMIT University, Australia, specialising in AI-enabled digital twins, structural health monitoring and intelligent asset management of civil infrastructure. His research integrates advanced sensing, machine learning and physics-based modelling to enhance the resilience, safety and sustainability of critical infrastructure systems. He leads the Infrastructure and Systems cluster at the RMIT Post-Carbon Research Centre, advancing interdisciplinary research on sustainable infrastructure futures.
Mojtaba leads large-scale industry–research collaborations focused on smart monitoring and digital twin technologies for infrastructure. His work has produced high-impact journal publications, award-winning projects and innovative solutions deployed in partnership with government and industry. He has extensive experience supervising multidisciplinary research teams and mentoring early-career researchers in data-driven infrastructure engineering.
