About
Associate Professor Vasileios Stavropoulos is a leading Clinical Psychologist and Cyberpsychology researcher specialising in the mental health impacts of digital media and gaming. With a PhD from the University of Athens (2013), he pioneered Greece’s first outpatient Internet Addiction Unit before relocating to Australia. Now based at RMIT University, he serves as Associate Dean HDR in the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences. His research explores gaming disorder, digital engagement, and AI-driven mental health solutions, integrating clinical psychology with advanced analytics.
He leads the Digital Minds Research Group, collaborating across psychology, AI, and the serious games industry. An ARC DECRA Fellow (2021-2023) and Tall Poppy Award recipient (2022), Vasileios has published over 124 peer-reviewed papers, ranking 12th globally in gaming addiction research. He is an editorial board member for top-tier journals and a reviewer for Swiss, Czech, and Australian national grants. He actively advises policymakers and the gaming industry. Passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration, he is driving AI-health initiatives, including joint research with computing and industry partners like CatholicCare Victoria and Northern Health. He also supports international research training through cotutelle agreements and the AcSIR and BITS Pilani partnerships.
Beyond academia, he is dedicated to student mentorship, clinical training, and fostering research-led innovation in health and technology.
