Dr Jose Vera-Agullo is a Chemical Engineer with a PhD in nanomaterials from the University of Alicante. He also holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and is currently completing a Bachelor’s in Business Administration at the National University of Distance Education (UNED).
Since 2008, he has worked at Acciona where he is the R&D Manager for the Concrete Group. He leads a multidisciplinary team developing innovative concrete technologies for the construction sector, providing technical support to infrastructure projects such as dams, tunnels, bridges, and buildings worldwide, including Spain, Brazil, Canada, Norway, and the Philippines. He also manages national and European-funded R&D projects focused on cementitious materials.
Previously, Jose was a predoctoral student in advanced materials, specialising in polymers and nanotechnology at the University of Alicante and was a visiting researcher at the University of Kentucky.
Jose holds two patents related to nanomaterials and concrete additives and is an active member of standardisation committees at AENOR. He has been involved in international advisory groups and co-chaired sessions at major conferences, such as EuroNanoForum.
With over 50 scientific publications and an H-index of 9, his work covers topics such as nanotechnology in construction, smart cement composites, and energy-efficient materials. He is fluent in Spanish, Catalan and English and has a strong interest in infrastructure and material science.
