Dr Carles Ibáñez is Director of the Climate Resilience Center at Eurecat. He was Senior Researcher and Head of the Aquatic Ecosystems Program at IRTA from 2005 to 2020. He holds a PhD in Biology from the University of Barcelona and did a postdoc in the Laboratory of Fluvial System Ecology of CNRS in France. He was a visiting researcher at the National Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center, University of Maryland in the USA from 2019 to 2020.

Carles has 35 years of research experience in the fields of aquatic and coastal ecology, sustainable management of water resources, climate change impacts and nature-based solutions, with circa 130 papers published in peer-reviewed international journals. He has supervised 15 PhD theses.
