Associate Professor Andrey Molotnikov is the Director of the Centre for Additive Manufacturing at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. He has previously held positions as Senior Lecturer and Lecturer in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia and Research Director at RMIT Europe in Barcelona, Spain. 

Andrey’s main research interests include additive manufacturing, architectured materials, and computational materials science. He is leading several projects focusing on alloy design for additive manufacturing, multi-material processing, and quality control of laser-based processes. Andrey is also an active member of Standards Australia (SA) and represents SA in ASTM and ISO workgroups on Additive Manufacturing. One of his projects resulted in a successful spin-off, Additive Assurance, which works with global leaders in aerospace, defence, and automotive industries.

He was a recipient of the Anders Gustaf Ekeberg Tantalum Prize in 2019, the Rod Rickards Fellowship from the Australian Academy of Science (2016), the ALMA2023 award from the Japan Institute of Light Metals, and received the Early Career Researcher Prize at the 4th International Conference on Nanomaterials by Severe Plastic Deformation, NanoSPD4.
