About
Dr Adrià Rubirola Gamell holds a PhD in Analytical Chemistry, focused in micropollutants and emerging contaminants. He is Manager of the Preventive Risk Management System, certified by ISO 22000. Adrià has 12 years of experience in water treatment, water quality management and process optimisation.

Research interests
- Optimisation of the existing pre-treatment steps at a large, advanced drinking water treatment plant and comparison with innovative technologies such as drinking water production and aquifer recharge.
- Adrià is interested in coordinating the operation of a new pilot plant (3 to 15 m3/h flow) to optimise the pre-treatment with focus on water quality (DBPs, emerging pollutants, organic matter and transformation products). The results of these tests and studies will have direct application on the future upgrade of the full-scale treatment plant, which will receive a €50-75 million investment.
